His fields of research include oxidative stress in allergic diseases, treatment of chronic urticaria, pharmacological interactions between anti HIV drugs, metabolic complications of HIV infected patients, salivary status of HIV infected patients, and drug allergies.
Dr. Shahar has published over 30 papers and book chapters in the field of allergic diseases and AIDS, and he is a co-investigator in an NIH-funded clinical study: Strategies for Management of Antiretroviral Therapy (SMART Study), 2005-2007. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Rappaport Faculty of Medicine of the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology.
