His activities in the hospital include treatment of patients who undergo extensive head and neck resections as a result of malignancies and other tumors, and maxillofacial reconstruction of patients with congenital malformations or after trauma. Special emphasis is geared towards dental and surrounding tissues aesthetics and functionality.
In 2008 Dr. Gutmacher founded the first Maxillofacial Rehabilitation postgraduate program in Israel, at Rambam. He currently serves as a member on the Health Ministry examiners board, the Israeli Dental Society scientific committee and prosthodontic board, the admissions committee for the Rappaport Faculty of Medicine at the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology, and is active in the Israeli Dental Society and the Israeli Prosthodontic Society.
Dr. Gutmacher lectures nationally and internationally on topics related to his specialty, and his research interests revolve around dental implants, osseointegration and temporomandibular diseases. His research is published in international peer-reviewed journals.
